Need to invest more
Gateway is 10
The chief executive of the Clyde Gateway project has called for further investment in Rutherglen, as the rejuvenation scheme turns 10.
Chief executive Ian Manson made the comments in a booklet looking over the past decade, where he praised work in the Royal Burgh as “especially important”.
Discussing the Cuningar Loop woodland park, the biggest single project that has been worked on, he said: “The park is one of a number of key locations across the burgh in which we intend to invest further and we will also be concentrating heavily on further work in and around Shawfield area as it holds the key to attracting thousands of new jobs to the Clyde Gateway area.
“The view of all our stakeholders is that we have been successful but I am determined to achieve much more in the coming years.”
The Clyde Gateway project aims to revitalise Rutherglen and the East End of Glasgow.
Mr Manson added: “Our work to boost the local economy in Rutherglen has been especially important, with highlights including the opening of the Red Tree office suites on Stonelaw Road and the construction of the offices, factory and commercial units at One Rutherglen Links.
“We are also very proud of the successful links we have built up over the years with a number of key community groups, particularly in Burnhill, and also with the Healthy n Happy Community Development Trust whom we made a significant financial contribution to support their move into a new facility on Farmeloan Road.”
