News in brief from around the local churches
The next pastoral planning meeting at St Cadoc’s will take place on Tuesday November 6 at 7pm in the church house.
The church will hold a rags to riches collection for Mary’s Meals on December 1 and 2.
More details will be available nearer the time but parishioners are encouraged to consider if there are any items they might consider parting with.
St Columbkille’s will hold a special social evening on Friday, November 9 to mark the centenary of the Great War ending.
There will be live entertainment, games, raffles and food. Tickets £5 for adults and children go free.
HCPT—The Pilgrimage Trust are holding a fundraising night on Friday November 2 in the parish hall, featuring music provided by a 13-piece swing band, snacks, and a raffle. Tickets are £7.50 for adults and £5 for children on sale soon.
Castlemilk Parish Church hold community meals on the third Friday of the month.
Stonelaw Parish Church will host the Christian Aid Coffee Fayre in the Main Hall this Saturday, October 27, 10am until noon.
There will be coffee, tea, juice and baking available, as well as stalls selling books, DVDs, jams and chutneys. Tickets are £2.50.
A knitting group has started up in the Meeting Place from 2.30pm till 4pm and all are welcome, regardless of experience.
The church’s Cafe @ The Meeting Place is open Monday to Saturday from 10.30am until 12.30pm.
Tea and coffee are available, along with home baking and a second-hand book stall. The church’s Tuesday Chat group meet every fortnight at 7.30pm.
And the first meeting of Wednesday Ladies will be held today, 2pm until 3.30pm.
The Co-operative Funeralcare Band is coming to Kings Park Church.
The most successful brass band in Scottish history will perform tomorrow (Thursday) at 7.30pm.
Tickets are £10 and all proceeds will go towards the church’s roof fund.
God Tock continues every Monday at 7pm.
The next Messy Church service for families will be Saturday November 3, from 4pm to 6pm. The Fitness Follies keep fit group at Fernhill and Cathkin Church meets every Wednesday at 10.30am. On Thursday at 10am the Knitting and Nattering group meets in the session room.
Croftfoot United Free Church hosts T in The Croft every Friday from 10am-noon.
It also hosts Lunch at the Croft on the first Friday of the month, 11.30am -1.30pm. Entry £1.50.
Burnside Blairbeth Church hold Messy Church on the first Saturday of every month.
It starts with an hour of crafts and games, followed by a celebration with a Bible story and singing, finishing with a two-course meal and will run from 4.30pm to 6.30pm.
The church has just launched their community Bible experience, offering a new way of looking at the text. Ask the church office for more details.
Flemington Hallside Church’s women’s guild meets every Wednesday at 7pm.
Croftfoot Parish Church hold their Refresh classes every Friday from 2pm until 4pm.
It is a chance to enjoy a cuppa and a chat, as well as hand massage, games of pool, spiritual reading and confidential prayer, including healing.
There is no cost.
Rutherglen West and Wardlawhill Church’s friendship cafe runs every Tuesday from 10am until noon.
The Tuesday Club meets in the Hamilton Road hall.
Rutherglen Old Parish Church is open every Thursday between noon and 2pm for a period of reflection.
There is also the opportunity to enjoy fellowship over tea/ coffee and biscuits.
Anyone is welcome to take in their lunch.
St Oswald’s Episcopal Church in King’s Park has Kaleidoscope for children with autism and their families from 6.30pm until 8pm on Monday.
On Tuesday there is community yoga, with entry costing £3 and lasting from 7pm until 8pm. Wednesday sees prayer space at 10am. On Thursday there is soup and space to be still from 6.30pm until 8pm.
