Thought for the Week

-

The temperature has dropped, and the dark nights are here. Autumn has arrived. It is a time when we go into the back of our wardrobe and find our old woolly jumpers hiding there, waiting to be put on, warm us up and keep us cosy.

Autumn is when things change. I’ve been doing a “spring clean” these past months as part of the de-clutter Cambuslang, getting rid of possessions I don’t need.

I’ve got rid of things I was hanging on to because of the warm cosy memory attached to them, but they were cluttering up my home.

While doing this I’ve also finished decorating my living room with new paint and wallpaper and it’s looking a lot nicer and cosier.

I feel more relaxed, in a tidier room without things shoved into drawers.

We are distracted by all the clutter, the busyness, the need of possessions that we then lose sight of what is important: quality time with God and our families.

As we go into these weeks of the Remembrance season in November, let us remember those around us, our friends, our families and God.

Let this autumn be a time to let go of all that is distracting us, cluttering our life.

Spend time with friends and family, appreciate the time spent with them, remembering what they mean to us.

May it also be a time spent with God in an uncluttered way remembering what we mean to him. Karen Hamilton, Deacon, Cambuslang Parish Church
