School holiday dates proposal

Christmas might be around the corner – but if you have kids then you might want to start planning for future summer holidays.

South Lanarkshir­e Council presented the proposed dates for the 2019/2020 school term to councillor­s.

Members of the education resources committee were due to meet yesterday to rubber-stamp the plan.

Pupils are set to start the first term on Thursday, August 15, 2019.

For the September Weekend, schools will close on Thursday, September 26 and reopen on Tuesday, October 1.

The next break will be the October week and schools will be closed on Friday, October 11 and open up again on Monday, October 21.

There will be an in-service day on Monday, November 18. The Christmas holidays will begin on Friday, December 20, when schools close, and they will reopen on Monday, January 6, 2020.

For the February break, schools will be closed on Friday, February 7, Monday, February 10 and Tuesday, February 11.

Spring break sees schools close on Friday, April 3 and reopen on Monday, April 20.

In the third term, schools will be closed on Monday, May 4 and there will be an in-service day on Tuesday, May 5.

There will be a local holiday when schools close on Thursday, May 21 and reopen on Tuesday, May 26.

And summer begins when schools close on Wednesday, June 24.
