Double trouble at the Meeting Place gig!

Two acts to perform

- Jonathan Geddes

The popular Acoustic Nights at the Meeting Place concert series is to return this Friday with a double header.

Katee Kross and Mhairi Phillipson will be performing at the folk show, held at Stonelaw Parish Church.

The 21-year-old Bishopbriggs songstress Katee Kross has already worked with some top names including Dougie MacLean, Barbara Dickson, Karine Polwart and James Grant, while writing and releasing three full length albums.

The first, Beautiful Dreamer was released in March 2016, with the second Don’t Fade To Grey just a year later, and the most recent Body & Soul was released last month.

Among her recent shows include supporting American bluesman Seasick Steve at the Kelvingrove Bandstand.

Mhairi started learning the fiddle at the age of six and started writing her own songs not long after picking up the guitar at 12.

Having grown up on Dylan, Joan Baez, John Denver, the Corries and Gordon Lightfoot she jumped at the chance to play fiddle with Luckenbooth which she has been doing for the last 19 years. Encouraged by band members to get her songs ‘out there’, she has been playing solo gigs over the last few years and earlier she recently had the privilege of venturing into the English folk scene at Moira Furnace Folk Festival.

She will be joined on a few songs with her sisters, entertaining the audience with close three part harmony singing.

Support on the night will come from the Mairs Family Band.

Doors will open at 7pm and the show will start half an hour later.

Entry is a £5 donation with tea/ filter coffee and home baking included and children get in free.

There is limited seating, so organisers suggest coming early to avoid disappointment.
