Lang storm into next leg of the cup

-

Cambuslang boss Paul McColl watched his stroll into the last 16 of the Macron Junior Scottish Cup - but insisted they should have scored at least 10.

Lang travelled to Dundee with little information about their opponents, apart from the fact that they were sitting comfortably at the top of the East Region’s premier league.

It could have been a tricky tie but the Cambuslang lads went ahead before the half hour mark and were creating plenty of chances, despite the playing surface cutting up badly.

Another three goals came in the second half to secure the victory, but there could have been many more.

McColl said: “We played well. Four goals flattered them, it could easily have gone into double figures. We created enough chances to win two games.

“But we’re just happy to get the win and make it through to the last 16 of the cup.

“We’ve been playing well in the cup competitions this year, but our league results need to improve.

“That’s what I’ll be telling our players on Saturday: ‘if you take your cup form into the league we’ll do well’.”

Scott Fauls grabbed the opener in the 29th minute before Chris Duff fired the second goal a minute after the interval.

Cambuslang bombarded their opponents’ goal but it took until the 84th minute before goal number three arrived. David Green wrapped up the win when he found the net in the 88th minute.

On Saturday, Cambuslang travel to Kilwinning on league business.
