Friends.. good and bad.. in the spotlight
Pupils from Burgh Primary were among the latest school children to take advantage of the opportunity to learn valuable broadcasting skills at their community radio station.
The Primary 6 and 7 pupils impressed CamGlen schools and operations worker Matt Conn with the thorough research they had conducted into their chosen theme when they visited the studios at the end of last month.
“They put together a really interesting piece on friendship,”explained Matt.
“It was about how to be a good friend and what attributes make a bad friend and how to watch out for that. I was really impressed with the level of content they came up with and the amount of research they put into it.”
The Burgh Primary pupils also incorporated news of gigs in both Rutherglen and Glasgow into their show, as well as festive-focussed news.
The CamGlen studios are currently used by a number of other local schools including Rutherglen High, Hallside Primary, Newton Farm Primary School, St Bride’s Primary and Loch Primary Schools.
“My job involves recruiting all the schools and going out and delivering some workshops with a volunteer or two,” explained Matt.
“Pupils learn how to conduct interesting interviews, how to use the equipment in the studio and how to use our mixer. It’s a rewarding job.”
