News in brief from around the lo­cal churches

Fern­hill and Cathkin will hold a Christ­mas themed Messy Church this Satur­day, from 3.45pm un­til 6pm.

Ev­ery­one is en­cour­aged to come in their favourite Christ­mas jumper and there will be games, songs and a short bi­ble story.

As well as fes­tive food, there will be time to make a craft project and take it home.

At the end of the evening we have a spe­cial present for all the chil­dren who come to our Messy Church.

The Fit­ness Fol­lies keep fit group at Fern­hill and Cathkin Church meets every Wed­nes­day at 10.30am.

On Thurs­day at 10am the Knit and Nat­ter group meets in the ses­sion room.

Ruther­glen Old Par­ish Church will host its next Monthly Cof­fee Morn­ing this Satur­day from 10am un­til noon.

Tea/Cof­fee and Cakes can be en­joyed in a cosy venue, at a mod­est cost of £2.50 per per­son. Ev­ery­one will be made most wel­come.

A Carol Ser­vice fea­tur­ing Both­well Phil­har­monic and St Colum­bkille’s, Trin­ity High and Fern­hill School Choirs, will take place on Tues­day, De­cem­ber 18 at 7pm in St Colum­bkille’s Church, fol­lowed by fes­tive re­fresh­ments in the Hall.

En­try is free but please leave a do­na­tion on the night. There will also be a raf­fle and one of the prizes will be a fam­ily Christ­mas Ham­per.

Do­na­tions for this ham­per e.g. wines and spir­its, fruit loaves, Christ­mas Cake and choco­lates etc can be handed in to the stall be­fore or after any Mass.

The Par­ish Calendar for 2019, fea­tur­ing lovely pho­to­graphs of the Church, First Com­mu­ni­cants and Con­fir­madi, will shortly be on sale from the par­ish for £3.

Flem­ing­ton Hall­side Church’s women’s guild meets every Wed­nes­day at 7pm.

A knit­ting group has started up in Stonelaw Par­ish Church’s Meet­ing Place from 2.30pm till 4pm and all are wel­come, re­gard­less of ex­pe­ri­ence.

The church’s Cafe @ The Meet­ing Place is open Mon­day to Satur­day from 10.30am un­til 12.30pm.

The church will also con­tinue with their monthly 30 minute ser­vices, which take place on the first Wed­nes­day of each month.

Th­ese are aimed at peo­ple who do not or can­not at­tend Sun­day ser­vices.

Tea and cof­fee are avail­able, along with home bak­ing and a sec­ond-hand book stall.

The church’s Tues­day Chat group meet every fort­night at 7.30pm.

Croft­foot Par­ish Church hold their Re­fresh classes every Fri­day from 2pm un­til 4pm.

It is a chance to en­joy a cuppa and a chat, as well as hand mas­sage, games of pool, spir­i­tual reading and con­fi­den­tial prayer, in­clud­ing heal­ing.

Castlemilk Par­ish Church hold com­mu­nity meals on the third Fri­day of the month.

Ruther­glen West and Ward­lawhill Church’s friend­ship cafe runs every Tues­day from 10am un­til noon. The Tues­day Club meets in the Hamil­ton Road hall.

God Tock con­tin­ues every Mon­day at 7pm at King’s Park Par­ish Church.

A prayer group meet there on Tues­day morn­ings, and on Wed­nes­day evenings. Their de­men­tia cafe meet on the last Fri­day of every month, 10.30am un­til noon.

Burn­side Blair­beth Church hold Messy Church on the first Satur­day of every month.

It starts with an hour of crafts and games, fol­lowed by a cel­e­bra­tion with a Bi­ble story and singing, fin­ish­ing with a two-course meal and will run from 4.30pm to 6.30pm.

Chil­dren’s club Jump has restarted in the Blair­beth build­ing on a Wed­nes­day evening for chil­dren in P1-P7. It is from 6-7.30pm.

St Bride’s Par­ish Church are con­tin­u­ing with their Eat Up ini­tia­tive, of­fer­ing hot meals and com­pany every Wed­nes­day. It runs from noon un­til 2pm. Croft­foot United Free Church hosts T in The Croft every Fri­day from 10am-noon. It also hosts Lunch at the Croft on the first Fri­day of the month, 11.30am -1.30pm. En­try £1.50.

Ruther­glen’s Sal­va­tion Army has a host of events go­ing on, in­clud­ing tod­dler groups. More in­for­ma­tion can be found at www.sal­va­tion­ ruther­glen.

St Oswald’s Epis­co­pal Church in King’s Park has Kaleidoscope for chil­dren with autism and their fam­i­lies from 6.30pm un­til 8pm on Mon­day.

On Tues­day there is com­mu­nity yoga, with en­try cost­ing £3 and last­ing from 7pm un­til 8pm.

Wed­nes­day sees prayer space at 10am.

On Thurs­day there is soup and space to be still from 6.30pm un­til 8pm.
