Maninjured after mass brawl at pub
A man sustained a “serious head injury” during a mass brawl in Cambuslang town centre on Friday night.
The 47-year-old was caught up in the large-scale disturbance on the Main Street just after 11pm.
An altercation erupted in Wetherspoon’s pub, The John Fairweather, which then continued outside.
The victim was taken to Hairmyres Hospital but was then transferred to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow, where his condition was described as serious but stable.
A 25-year-old man was also injured during the disturbance, however, he was released from hospital following treatment.
Detective Constable Paul Mooney, Cambuslang CID, said: “There appears to have been an altercation within the Wetherspoon’s bar, which subsequently spilled on to the street and where patrons from the pub and others outside became involved.
“We know from our enquiries that there were a number of people filming the incident outside the pub and that there were a number of cars in the road, so we are keen to get footage from either the phones or dashcam which may assist us with our enquiries.”
Anyone with footage or information can contact Cambuslang CID via 101.
