Mealtimes got hot, hot, hot for kids at a Rutherglen primary school when three mums lifted the lid on the secrets behind the culinary delights of traditional Asian cooking.

The mums, each of whom are of Pakistani descent, were hosting one of the first demonstrations in St Columbkille’s Primary’s new multi-cultural cooking kitchen facility, located in the school’s family learning zone.

Pupils of all ages were invited into the kitchen for 20-minute sessions during which they learned how to prepare red lentil curry and discovered the dish’s ingredients, their nutritional value and medicinal qualities.

The children were then given the chance

Thumbs up Elsie McNulty, Katie Lyon, Tyler Owens and Matthew O’Kane give their curry top marks
