Thought for the Week

-

What is Christmas?

Everyone talks about how busy and crazy this season is, and I would ask why are we so busy? What are we getting so crazy about?

Christians believe that the most important part of Christmas is the birth of Jesus.

Jesus brought calm and peace into some quite scary situations, so if this season is all about Jesus why is this such a stressful time?

We need to stop and think why we are we getting stressed, what are we trying to achieve?

There is so much to do to make ‘the perfect Christmas’ and most of these things are good, but if they cause us to be stressed then maybe we need to slow down a little and spend more time focussing on the important things like family, friends and simply noticing others.

A compliment given at the right moment can often mean as much as an expensive gift and a simple invitation to meet up can mean the world to some people.

In the bible it says ‘Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honouring each other.’

Please can we all remember what Christmas is all about, the birth of Jesus, and how often, it is the small things that mean the most.

Can we all try and aim for a restful time and remember the prince of peace who is the reason we celebrate in the first place.

Wishing you all a happy peaceful Christmas and a blessed New Year. Ross Murray Cambuslang and Rutherglen Reachout Trust
