Light show dazzles at tree celebration
Cambuslang Parish Church was shining bright in time for Christmas.
The church held their popular Christmas tree festival in the runup to the big day, and a number of dazzling designs were on show.
Now in its third year, the event is intended to help bring the local community together, and despite the terrible weather there was still a good turnout.
Leslie Milton, the minister at Cambuslang Parish Church, said: “I think there’s a real desire at this time of year, with the weather being so dark, to have something that celebrates light.
“It was striking, and became a display of light and celebration. There were 13 trees on display , with a variety of themes.”
Many of the trees used different designs to stand out, with the winning trees coming from the Anchor Boys, who used a theme of lest we forget in recognition of 2018 being 100 years since the First World War, and church group the Neighbourly, who decorated their tree with a theme of music and harmony.
Leslie added: “We want people to think about what is important to them at Christmas, and decorate their tree around that.
“We also sang carols and told the Christmas story.
“The festival has been something that people come along to and enjoy, it’s become a fixture and part of Christmas at the church.”
