Santa’s on the spot
It looks like Santa Claus has swapped ho ho ho for goal goal goal! Father Christmas popped by to help out the kind -hearted Cambuslang Colts youngsters just before Christmas.
They had carried out a massive food bank collection for those in need.
For extra fun they had a penalty shoot-out, with Santa going in goals, while there was a tournament held as well.
It was sleigh bells and strikers for the kids at the Cambuslang Colts youth team.
The youngsters were having a foodbank collection to help out disadvantaged locals.
And Santa himself popped along to take part in a penalty shoot out competition too.
The kids more than reached their goal, with 60 bags of food, clothes and toys being handed in, which pleased the club’s chairman, Daniel Griffin.
Hesaid: “This is the second year we’ve done this and it’s something we plan on doing yearly.
“As a club we’re often asking for donations and help, and if people can do that for us then we want to give back to others, especially people who need it most at this time of year.
“The families of players here aren’t all the wealthiest of folk, but they’re all willing to help people, and that’s what the club is about.
“Last year, we got about 25 bags, but this year we hit about 60 full bags. We got bags of clothes and toys .”
On the pitch the club, which has grown rapidly over the past 12 months and now has over 100 members playing in various teams, wrapped up the year with a tournament.
And to add a festive feel there was the chance to beat Santa in a penalty shoot-out.
Daniel added: “One of the grandads did it last year and was back this year – he’s brilliant with the wee kids and was jumping and diving about, so it was great fun.
“We just want to do everything we can to make things enjoyable. There was a big tournament going on with the kids, and we gave out selection boxes to them too.”
