Spiders dig deep for draw

QUEEN’S PARK ......................... 2 ALBION ROVERS ..................... 2 Queen’s Park battled back to earn a point against Albion Rovers – despite being decimated by injuries.

The Spiders were forced to use all three of their substitutions before half time.

But a Lewis Hawke goal helped Queen’s recover to earn a draw.

Dominic McLaren had given the Hampden men an early lead, but quick fire strikes from Shawn Rodgers and Gregor Fotheringham turned the tie.

Keeper Jordan Hart missed the game with flu, before Ciaran Summers went off injured early on.

He was promptly followed by Gerry McLaughlin and Kurtis Roberts, who collided going for the same ball and both had to be replaced.

Queen’s boss Mark Roberts said: “We let them straight back into it after we scored, which was disappointing.

“We feel we could have nicked it after it went to 2-2, but they’ll feel the same.

“The most important thing for me is that the two guys who were injured in the collision are both OK.

“Gerry took a massive one to the head, he had a massive gash to his head and you are just relieved that they are OK.”
