Achance for the over-50s tolearn newskills

-

Rutherglen and Cambuslang residents aged 50 and over can keep their minds and bodies active through a new learning and leisure programme that has been launched by LEAP.

An exciting range of health and wellbeing activities – including tai chi and new age kurling (Mondays), keep fit and zumba gold (Tuesdays), tai chi, badminton and new age kurling (Wednesdays), table tennis (Thursdays) and a walking group, every second Tuesday, are available at various locations across the area.

At the Tolpitch pavilion on Thursdays, locals can dream about sun, sea and Sangria while learning a new language in beginners’ Spanish classes, with intermediate lessons taking place at the same venue on Tuesdays.

If arts and crafts are more your thing, Tolpitch pavilion is also the place to be, along with the Whitlawburn Centre on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Meanwhile, you can become more tech savvy and brush up on your computer and internet skills, with tuition available at the LEAP training suite in Craigallian Drive as part of the group’s January to March programme of activities.

A beginners’ computer and internet class is held on Mondays, with a beginners’ tablet class on Fridays.

iPad beginners’ and advanced training is held in the same suite on Wednesdays.

Participation in all classes must be booked with LEAP in advance.

Anyone wishing to make a booking or to find out information about venues and time, should contact Catriona on 0141 641 5169 or alternatively email Catriona@ leap-project.co.uk
