Romantic drama hits local screen

-

Rutherglen Community Cinema will have another screening this Friday.

This week’s selection at the No 18 venue will be the romantic drama The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, starring Lily James.

Set in 1946, the plot follows a London-based writer who begins exchanging letters with residents on the island of Guernsey, which was under German occupation during World War II, and is based on the best selling book by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows.

The community cinema opened last year with a showing of horror classic A Nightmare On Elm Street, which was followed by Mamma Mia 2 in November and It’s A Wonderful Life just before Christmas.

The plan is to show two films a month, and volunteers are still wanted to help out at the cinema.

The role is varied and covers hosting events, welcoming customers and ticketing, audio visual and technical assistance, serving food and drink and assisting members of the public.

All volunteers are then invited to watch the movie once the public are seated and will receive one free ticket per movie for a friend to join them.

Anyone interested should email number18@ healthynhappy.org.uk for more details.

Tickets cost £6, which includes drinks and snacks and doors open at 6pm, with the movie starting at 6.30pm.
