Siobhan is wedded to continuing success

-

JONATHAN GEDDES A Cambuslang musician is hoping to strike the right note at a wedding awards ceremony next week.

Flautist Siobhan Rodger is a member of the band Amarone, who have been nominated in the Best Ceremony Entertainer category at the upcoming Confetti Wedding Awards.

It is the fourth year in a row that Siobhan and violinist Emma McDowell have been in the running for a prize, and they are hoping that this will be their year, having been nominated by members of the public.

Siobhan said: “We seem to always be the bridesmaids at these things but that’s just one of those things – I think for us, being nominated is more important, because it’s the actual brides that are nominating us.

“With the judging panel you’re never quite sure what they are looking for, so, although it is lovely to be nominated, I am not holding my breath. We must be doing something right with the actual customers.

“We’re seeing it as a good night out rather than being competitive about the awards ceremony, so we’ll get the glad rags on, we’ll get our hair and make up on and have a good night!”

Special guest at the ceremony, held at the Hilton Hotel on Sunday, January 27, will be David Emanuel, who designed the wedding dress for Princess Diana and is currently the host for the Say Yes to the Dress TV show.

Siobhan and Emma set up Amarone five years ago, and since then they have played at all sorts of ceremonies across Scotland.

Siobhan added:”The most unusual ceremony we performed at recently was one where we recreated the scene from the end of Love Actually where they sang Love Is All You Need, and the groom had arranged that for that bride.

“So there was us and a choir doing that, and that was quite a surprise for the bride. It’s still great to perform at weddings – every wedding’s fun to do.”

Tickets are available for the Confetti awards ceremony, and more information on it can be found by visiting confettiawards. co.uk.
