Info from worried locals sparks police drugs raid

A Kyle Court flat was raided by police on Friday after residents complained about drug-related problems in the high-rise building.

Officers forced open the door of the property where a man was allegedly found in possession of heroin and cannabis resin.

The early morning raid was carried out after police obtained a search warrant for the property on Main Street, Cambuslang.

Sergeant Scott Anderson of Rutherglen police office thanked members of the public who had shared informatio­n with local officers.

He said:“Acting on concerns expressed by the local community regarding drug use and drug dealing from Kyle Court, police officers from the local problem solving team executed a drug search warrant about 8.30am on May 10.

“A quantity of cannabis resin, a class B drug, was recovered and a quantity of heroin, a class A drug was recovered.

“A 49-year-old man was charged with possession of a controlled drug and a report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.”
