Youth brass band open evening

-

School children with musical talents are being invited to the King’s Park Brass Youth Band’s open evening to see if they would like to join.

The community brass band will welcome players of cornet, trumpet, tenor horn, baritone, euphonium, trombone, tuba or percussion to go along to the event at 6.45pm on Tuesday, May 21 at King’s Park Church on Castlemilk Road.

The band meets on Tuesday nights to play music together. Among the favourites from the past year have been Pirates of the Caribbean, Viva La Vida, 500 Miles and Colonel Bogey.

They also have a small junior band, which is a feeder into the youth band for players who have not t been playing so long.

Three or four times a year, they join with the senior band to put on concerts in and around Glasgow, in venues such as Rutherglen Town Hall and St Andrew’s in the Square.

Tuition is provided free in order to offer children the opportunity to learn to play a brass instrument.
