Rutherglen Reformer

A Fernhill family were left stunned when the embankment at the back of their home subsided due to wet weather just two weeks after they had moved in.

Mark Henderson, of Castlefern Crescent, discovered that dirt and mud had been dislodged before sliding into his garden.

Water was able to gather on the property while huge holes had been left in the area, which had been set aside for landscaping.

And the dad of six told the Reformer that he was concerned the embankment could prove dangerous to his children.

He said:“There should be some form of drainage system to make sure this doesn’t happen.

“The earth has simply slid down into my garden. The landscapers sometimes come out and plant shrubs but there is nothing stopping the land from moving.”
