A Rutherglen hair salon had been plagued by thieves twice in just over two months.

Raiders had completely cleaned out the premises, including stealing everything from scissors to hairspray and setting gel, costing the company £1,500.

The items that had not been stolen had been smashed up instead.

And the two robberies had left the salon’s owner at her wit’s end.

Dawn Brown, 20, had only just set the business up and needed her parents support to keep going after the thefts.

She said:“The first time we had the break in they took clippers, tongs, our till, a payphone and all of our retail stock.

“After that we left the drawer open on the till to make sure that if there were any more break-ins they would see there was no money there.

“We have only been open for 11 weeks and we have done better than I thought,
