Proud politicians congratulate the Glens

Rutherglen’s politicians were full of praise for the Glens title-winning season.

Ged Killen MP said:“I would like to congratulate Rutherglen Glencairn on becoming the first ever champions of the SJFA West Region Championship.

“I’m delighted the team will be the first etched onto the new trophy. I’m sure winning on goal difference on the last day of the season meant there were a few nerves, but the management team and players are to be commended for putting in a tremendous effort that resulted in such an emphatic victory.”

Clare Haughey MSP said:“I’m delighted for Glencairn winning their league title – and being the first name on the new trophy. Congratulations on this fantastic achievement.”

Councillor Robert Brown, chair of the Rutherglen and Cambuslang Sports Council, said:“Congratulations to the Glens! It was great to see them win the title.

“It also helps put Rutherglen on the map as a centre of sporting excellence. It gives a real boost for the summer to the Royal Burgh.”
