Bluegrass pair head to the Meeting Place

A bluegrass duo from Bath will take to the stage in Rutherglen on Friday.
Leon Hunt and Jason Titley will be performing an acoustic show at the Meeting Place at Stonelaw Parish Church.
The duo have been playing together since the early 90s, when they formed the progressive bluegrass outfit, Daily Planet after regularly jamming together, and have worked on a host of projects since then.
Leon Hunt has, for more than a decade, been one of the UK’s best five string banjo players and has made his living playing alongside some of the world’s top musicians from a number of musical styles, backgrounds and disciplines.
As well as working on a variety of bluegrass recordings, he’s played with Irish traditional music’s Michael McGoldrick, the African Kora virtuoso Sekou Kieta, and English folk singers Kate Rusby and Seth Lakeman.
Leon has also enjoyed being part of several major theatre productions for The Royal Shakespeare Company, Birmingham Rep, and The New Vic – although most people might have heard him when his playing was heard on a major TV advertising campaign for Anchor Butter.
Jason is a long-time on-off musical partner of Leon’s since the Daily Planet days, and plays the guitar.
He was involved in the ‘new timey’ trio Rabbi John and has toured the UK with the US virtuoso Tim O’Brien.
He has also recently joined the popular street band the Huckleberries.
Support on Friday night will come from the Mairs Family Band, regulars at the Acoustic Nights gigs who play country and traditional music.
Doors open at 7pm, the show will start at 7.30pm and tickets are priced at a £5 donation.
Tea/coffee and home baking are included, children go free and there will be limited seating available.
There will be a further acoustic show at the Meeting Place the following week, when Scottish folk legend Ian Bruce performs on May 31.
