Oh baby! Births can be registered again in South Lanarkshire
Births across South Lanarkshire can now be registered again.
The service was temporarily suspended because of the global pandemic.
However, anyone wishing to register a birth can now do so from today.
Due to the high number of births to be registered, the service will resume in order of birth date:
For babies born before March 31 and from April 1 until April 30, registration has now begun.
For babies born between May 1 and May 31, registration will begin from July 27.
For babies born between June 1 and June 30, registration will begin from August 17.
For babies born between July 1 and July 31, registration will begin from September 7.
For babies born from August 1 onwards, registration will begin from September 28.
These dates may change depending on the volume of birth registrations.
Head of administration and legal services, Geraldine McCann, said:“We will work to ensure that births are registered as quickly as possible but your patience will be much appreciated as the backlog of registrations is processed.
“You can arrange for a birth to be registered by calling 01698 453792/454023 from 8.45am to 4.30pm Monday to Thursday, 8.45am to 4pm on Fridays and 9am to 1pm on Saturdays.”
More information, including what information needs to provided over the phone to register a birth, where to attend to register and what will then be received, is available from the council website.
