Bully Wee are back in training

-

Clyde returned to training last night as preparations for next season kicked off.

The Bully Wee haven’t played since March, but Danny Lennon’s men now have a schedule drawn up, in line with guidance provided by the Scottish Government and the SFA/SPFL’s Coronavirus Joint Response Group.

Players and staff met with club officials last week to discuss the plans and Clyde director David MacPherson, who is also the club’s lead Covid-19 coordinator, has provided an update ahead of the League One kick-off on October 17.

He said:“For all training sessions, we have put in place a very robust occupational plan, in close conjunction with NLL [North Lanarkshire Leisure], to keep the players as safely distanced as possible during their time at Broadwood.

“Danny and the staff have been incredibly supportive of the whole process and all of the players know what will be required of them.

“Each will be required to submit a personal health check and temperature checks will be carried out upon each arrival at the stadium.

“Although the guidelines do not now require full Covid-19 testing to be carried out for training purposes, the club has invested in the necessary testing kits to ensure availability if needed in future.

“This is a hugely positive step in our ultimate aim of returning to competitive action, ideally with crowds present, but we should be mindful that the situation could change very quickly, either nationally or regionally – the latter of which could impact on certain clubs only.

“We will continue to be alert to any changes and react as required.”
