Man jailed for cocaine stash in dad’s flat

A drug dealer who used his father’s flat to store more than £17,000 of cocaine and an air rifle has been jailed for 16 months.

Gavin Allan kept the stash hidden in bedrooms and on the stairs of the property in Rutherglen.

The 40-year-old was snared in December 2018 following a tip-off.

Allan pleaded guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court to being concerned in the supply of cocaine.

The dad- of- four, of East Kilbride, South Lanarkshire, also admitted having an air weapon without a certificate.

The court heard Allan was initially stopped by officers in Glasgow city centre and taken into custody.

Police later went to the flat on Glenside Drive and were allowed entry by Allan’s father who owned the flat.

Officers found 392.94 grams of cocaine in the main bedroom.

Prosecutor Adele MacDonald told the court the amount was valued at £16,680.

Officers later discovered three bags of cocaine which contained 10 smaller twogram bags valued at £800.

Scales and £1475 in mixed notes were also picked up.

Officers later found an air rifle in the second bedroom which belonged to Allan.

Miss MacDonald said: “The accused didn’t have a certificate for that air rifle. It was determined that the circumstances and the amount of cocaine found would be for the onward supply and not for personal use.”

Sheriff Johanna Johnston QC said: “You have admitted your guilt of a significant amount of controlled class A drugs at a very high value.”
