Looking for their forever homes
The Scottish SPCA’s Lanarkshire Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre is marking Reptile Awareness Day today by appealing for new owners for overlooked reptiles in their care.
The animal welfare charity has been caring for Hammy the corn snake since May last year and Conrad, also a corn snake, for the last six months.
Centre manager Gillian Boyle said:“These animals would make great additions to a home but sadly they keep getting overlooked, as do many reptiles who come into our care.
“Poor Hammy has been waiting over a year to find his forever home. He would benefit from an experienced snake owner, who can help build his confidence with people, and provide him with all the equipment he needs for a happy and healthy life.
“Conrad came into our care as a stray. Unfortunately, no-one came forward for him and he has been looking for a new home ever since.
“He has quite a shy personality and was in poor condition when he was found as he was in the middle of having a bad shed.
“After some TLC, a few nice baths and warm accommodation with some proper food, he is now fighting fit and ready to find his new home.
“In light of Reptile Awareness Day today, we are hoping to find the perfect homes for Hammy and Conrad.
“After spending so long in our centre, they deserve to finally find their happy-ever-afters.”
