Makeover will transform town’s Main Street
Cambuslang town centre is set for an £845,000 makeover, with work due to start later this month.
The streetscape project will see a range of works on the south side of Cambuslang Main Street between Greenlees Road and West Coats Road.
Improvements will include resurfacing of paving with natural stone, new street furniture, and the creation of a community event space at the centre of Main Street.
The project is due for completion by the end of this summer.
Cambuslang Community Council is funding the project with the support of the Scottish Government’s Town Centre Fund and the Scottish Government’s Town Centre Capital Grants Fund.
South Lanarkshire Council will project manage the works in consultation with Cambuslang Community Council.

Chairman of Cambuslang Community Council, John Bachtler said“We are delighted that the streetscape works are starting, creating a smarter central area of Main Street.
“This is the first stage of the Cambuslang Town Centre Action Plan developed by Cambuslang Community Council and South Lanarkshire Council.
“Together with the new Banking Hub coming in April and our Cambuslang Loves Local campaign we are looking forward to enhancing the town centre.”
Contractors Covanburn successfully tendered for the contract to carry out the work in Cambuslang.
