Youngsters train again

Outdoor non-contact training for under-18s throughout Rutherglen and Cambuslang resumed this week.

Following an update from First Minister Nicola Sturgeon, Scottish FA registered clubs are now permitted to arrange one 45-minute session each week for 12-17 year olds.

This arrangemen­t remains in place for under-12s.

General manager of South Lanarkshir­e leisure and culture, David Booth, said:“We’re delighted to extend non-contact training to under-18s as well as under-12s.

“Due to the restrictio­ns, and our reduced capacity, we will be offering the facility midweek, typically 6pm to 9pm.”

The following facilities will be open Monday to Friday and you can email to book:

■Stonelaw Sports Centre, Rutherglen.

■Hamilton Palace Sports Grounds (outdoor only),

■John Cumming Stadium, Carluke

■John Wright Sports Centre, East Kilbride

The following facilities will be available Monday toThursday:

■Ballerup Recreation Area, Bent Recreation Area,

■Blackwood and Kirkmuirhi­ll Community Wing,

■Duncanrig Sports Centre,

■Fernhill Community Centre, Rutherglen,

■Jock Stein Centre, Hamilton,

■McKirdy Recreation Area,

■Newton Farm CommunityW­ing

■Willie Waddell Sports and Community Centre.

Customers should contact the facility by email and provide details before being allocated a day and time. Clubs and organisati­ons must complete and accept the terms and conditions of let prior to booking.
