Great news has been reported Fresh hope for all in sight By this I mean a new vaccine It’s hoped will halt our plight. It claims a high success rate So bring it on, I say;

That in effect, it helps protect Those most at risk each day

So many hearts are hurting So many lives been claimed With this advance there’s every chance

The beast shall soon be tamed. So let’s be ever careful Although restrictions bite, And not forget, despite this threat, The tunnel has some light. Just mind the rules and don’t be fools

Until we turn the tide. * To submit a poem for publication in Poet’s Corner, email judith.tonner@ reachplc.com

Mario games are timeless. Doesn’t matter what age you are or how good you are at playing them, Super Mario adventures come in all shapes and sizes and are enjoyed by everyone.

This new version of the Wii U classic Super Mario 3D World comes with an expansion that adds a new dynamic to the game play and will have players young and old purring with delight.

It’s a simplistic tale from Nintendo which was first released in 2013, and compared to more recent 3D classics like Mario Galaxy and Mario Odyssey, it struggles to hold its own. But what it lacks in ingenuity, it makes up for in charm.

Thankfully, the main game is enhanced with improved dynamite visuals as well as more modern controls to help sell the eight-year-old outing.

Bowser, in the main game, has imprisoned some Sprixies, instead of going after Princess Peach like every other game, and has spread them across the game for Mario and friends to try to find.

It’s a good idea to explore the worlds along with friends using the multiplayer functionality either on local wireless or online with plenty of surprises in the levels.

The level design is great, based around the original dynamic of play from 3D World with a smattering of Odyssey thrown in for good measure and, as short as it is, it still has enough content to keep the Mario fans happy.

Repeat players may feel a little let down, but hey it’s Mario...Let’s a Go!
