Man in court charged with murder
A Cambuslang man has appeared at court charged with the murder of a‘much loved’ Blantyre man.
Richard Marshall, 33, was found dead in a flat in Camelon Crescent, Blantyre, on Wednesday.
Shane Young, 20, of Cambuslang, made no plea when he appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court on Saturday.
He was committed for further examination and remanded in custody. He is expected to appear in court again this Friday.
The‘devastated’ family of Mr Marshall said he was a‘much loved’son and brother and they will‘cherish’ him forever.
His heartbroken family issued the following statement: “We are completely devastated by the loss of Richard who was a much-loved son, brother, uncle and good friend.
“He will be cherished in our hearts forever.”
Officers were called to an alleged disturbance last Wednesday, March 31, where Mr Marshall was found dead.
Police Scotland continue to investigate.
Detective Inspector Frank Travers, from the major investigations team, said last week: “Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and there will be a continued police presence in the area while our enquiries continue.
“I would like to thank members of the public for their patience and assistance.
“This appears to have been an isolated incident and anyone with concerns is asked to get in touch with officers.
