Nisbet linked with Celtic switch
Rumours linking Cambuslang star Kevin Nisbet with a move to Celtic were rife this week – but his gaffer at Hibs, Jack Ross, has dismissed the reports.
It has been claimed Nisbet could leave Hibernian for Celtic in a swap deal involving Leigh Griffiths.
The former Trinity High School pupil was then omitted from the Easter Road side’s squad for the Premiership draw against Dundee on Sunday, further fuelling speculation he was set to leave.
However, Ross rubbished suggestions that the 24-year-old – who handed in a transfer request in January after a failed move to Birmingham City – is posed for the exit ahead of the transfer window closing onTuesday.
Ross said:“I was surprised to hear about it, because unless people at the club aren’t telling me things – which I don’t imagine is the case – then it’s nonsense, really.
“It just shows how something can be created and people can run with it.
“As far as we’re concerned there’s absolutely no truth in it.”
Yet when Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou was asked 24 hours earlier about there being an interest from Celtic in Nisbet 24 hours, he didn’t rule it out.
Postecoglou, who had just completed the signing of Croatian full-back Josip Juranovic when he was asked, said:“I ain’t quashing, or denying or confirming, y’know.
“I was really happy to talk about Josip because I’d been sitting on the fence with one. I don’t like sitting on the fence. I prefer to talk about the ones we’ve done.
“There’s still some work we’re doing off the field.
“Hopefully we will be able to make some announcements in the next few days.”
