Late-night bus service returns
Night bus services returned to Lanarkshire last weekend.
Late night workers and city centre revellers from all over Lanarkshire can once again jump on the bus home from Glasgow.
First Glasgow announced its weekend night bus network is returning to help boost the nighttime economy in the city and ease the pressure felt by recent rail disruption.
A total of 11 corridor routes are being served by the night bus retuening. Areas covered by the routes include Motherwell, Wishaw, Hamilton, and East Kilbride, with three of them travelling to destinations in North and South
Lanarkshire.
A total of 11 corridor routes will be served from Friday evening, June 17.
Service N267 travels through Rutherglen, Cambuslang, Hamilton, and Hillhouse. And Service N18 stops in Rutherglen, East Kilbride and Greenhills.
And anyone up to the age of 22 will be able to travel for free with their Young Persons Concessionary Travel Card.
And for those that are older a 6pm PLUS ticket covers travel after 6pm as well as night bus services.
Priced from £4, the 6pm PLUS ticket is available on the First Bus app and on bus using exact fare, contactless card payments, Apple Pay and Google Pay.
Graeme Macfarlan, Commercial Director for First Bus Scotland, said: “We are absolutely delighted to announce the return of First Glasgow’s night bus network, supporting the city’s night-time economy while also helping people get home safely at the weekend.
“We are aware the challenges people have experienced in getting home from a night out, an event or indeed after a nightshift in the city centre in the early hours of the morning and hope the return of our night bus network will allow more people to enjoy all that Glasgow has to offer.
“The inclusion of the Young Persons Concessionary Travel Card is another fantastic bonus for under 22s in the city and a great opportunity allowing them to travel home completely free of charge.”
