Revellers await refunds as new beerfest date released
Organisers of a cancelled beer festival have announced the date for a new event – but have yet to contact residents left out of pocket by the previous postponement.
The Winter Beer Bash was scheduled to be held on December 3 at the Junction 1 venue, near Rutherglen.
However, it was suddenly cancelled on the day itself.
The Reformer previously told how a number of locals had been trying to secure refunds from organisers Feast End, but had received nothing.
Now £10 tickets are being sold for a new bash, slated to be held on Saturday, May 6.
Information accompanying the ticket sale promises that it will be “A one-day event for beer lovers everywhere with plenty of local and national craft beers available to suit all tastes!”
Gwen Blair, who is one of those trying to secure a refund after buying four tickets for the December event, told us: “I’ve still heard nothing back, about refunds or even about our tickets being valid for the new date.
“It feels like you’re dealing with a group of chancers here. There’s still been no reply from the organisers, or from Junction 1.
“It’s ridiculous that they are selling tickets for the May event when they haven’t contacted people who’ve bought tickets to their previous event.”
Payment for the tickets went to events company Playground of Sound, who have organised various Scottish events such as the Playground festival in Rouken Glen Park – an event hit by claims of acts not being paid.
The music bash proved controversial after DJ duo Optimo halted their set in a row over payment, later claiming that the festival organisers “appeared to treat local artists like s***”.
Feast End, Playground of Sound and Junction 1 have all failed to respond to requests for comment.
