Rutherglen Reformer

Reece uses up another life

- STAFF REPORTER

Rutherglen’s star on The Apprentice found himself back in the boardroom for the second week in a row following Thursday night’s task in Brighton.

The contestants were all sent to the seaside town in southeast England to secure nine items synonymous with the area.

Lanarkshire entrepreneur Reece Donnelly was part of Team Apex and, like last week, they lost the challenge after only managing to get six out of the nine items asked for.

That meant Team Affinity won and were treated to a special theatre performance.

Unlike Affinity, Apex didn’t even go 500 yards away from where they first started in their bid to find the all-important items.

And Reece was accused of not listening while making phone calls and misinterpreting what was being said.

When project manager Denisha Kaur Bharj was asked by Lord Sugar who she was bringing back into the boardroom she picked Reece and Mark – but in the end she was fired.

Actor Reece, 26, founded the Theatre School of Scotland and Theatre College of Scotland in 2017, becoming the youngest college owner in the UK.

And Reece, who has been acting since he was six and appeared in BBC drama Waterloo Road, said: “I can’t give too much away but obviously as time goes on, there is maybe more of a conversation between Lord Sugar and me.

“Lord Sugar is a bit of a geezer for us and what you see is what you get. He has come through the ranks and built a multibillionpound life.

“He knows what he is talking about. He wouldn’t be sitting in that chair if he didn’t.

“We don’t always see him that much but what I do know of him and what I do see of him during the season is he has worked very hard to get to where he is.

“Some of his one-liners, though, I’d give him a run for his money with some of his patter. He could be doing with a wee refresher or a joke book from me.

“Other than that, what he has done in business is fantastic.”

Last week we told you how Reece’s best pals and businesswomen Kirsten Cameron and Amy Moore said: “We are so proud of him and feel like he was made for this.

“He has an amazing business behind him, he’s so confident and he knows how to put his place in the boardroom.

“He knows what he wants and he knows how to get it, and he’s just being his true self on The Apprentice.”

Thirteen candidates remain and next week the contestants have been asked to come up with a marketing campaign for electric motorbikes.

The Apprentice returns to BBC One Scotland on Thursday at 9pm.
