Owner’s name: Rich Ellis Job: Service engineer. Scooter club & town: Ex NGSC Dursley. How and when did you first become interested in scooters: The usual story of mates at school getting scooters and wanting to be part of something special. What was your first scooter: Vespa 90. What is your favourite scooter model: Vespa PX. What is your favourite style of custom scooter: I do like ones with trick engineering but also ones with top quality murals plus lashings of chrome and it’s got to be a two-stroke. First rally or event: Weston ’87. How did you get there: On scooters with the Nipple Gnashers Scooter Club. Any stories: Lots of little stories that make up memories the five years or so in the late 80s where I had some of the best times ever, with people I’ll always remember. It was a youth cult I feel lucky to have been involved in. Favourite and worst rally/event: Haven’t been on one for ages but Yarmouth was always the best.. What is the funniest experience with a scooter: Following Paul Tucker all the way to Margate inn the dark, he had a torch taped to his Lammy headset because the lights had failed and the brake light only worked when he banged on the e side panels. What a character, sadly missed. What’s the furthest you’ve ever ridden on a scooter: Whitley Bay, felt like the other side of the world from Dursley. What do you like about rallies/events: Gave it all up years ago, just like hooning around locally on this thing now. Your favourite custom/featured scooter of all time: : Photogenic – late 80s vespa cutdown, gold, chrome, custom red paint with semi naked ladies, what’s not to like? If you had to recommend one scooter part or item of riding kit what would it be: Breakdown cover!
