Scootering

Going out-out?

-

Hello! I own a Beverly 350 Sport Touring and would like to know if this is a ‘scooter’. I subscribe to Scootering and every issue I scour the pages to see if you ever mention a Beverly 350, but alas you don’t. Furthermore, I have booked up for the Isle of Wight annual scooter fest and as it will be my first ever scooter meeting I am a little worried that I may not be ‘accepted’ and even picked on because I do not have a Lambretta or a Vespa. I find your magazine very informative and love the content but as the Beverly is never commented upon it may not be welcome as a scooter at the meetings. I’m 68 now and have owned the 350 for two years and find it a very capable all round machine but should I have purchased a ’58 Lambretta LD like the one I started with in 1965? Why not have a page or two in your fine magazine dedicated to modern bigger ‘scooters’ as

Hi Peter, I just checked the DVLA database, and can confirm the Beverly 350 is in fact a scooter, but as noted in your letter…it’s not actually a ‘scooter-scooter’ (Mickey Flanagan going out-out). However, despite your spotting it’s not heavily featured in this particular journal, I can’t imagine that you'd be either ‘not accepted’ or ‘picked on’ whatever machine you ride. The scooter fraternity is a broad church, and at the end of the day… it doesn’t matter what you ride, just as long as you ride. Enjoy the IOW. (PS – I didn't actually check the database, that was a joke) Regards Dan
