Name: Jacqueline Watson Scooter club and town: Glasgow and West of Scotland Lambretta Club... established 1955. How and when did you first become interested in scooters: My sisters Angela and Michelle were already involved in the scooter scene through various Lanarkshire scooter clubs, Motherwell’s Destination Unknown SC, Nobody’s Heroes SC, Ghosts SC, etc. so when I met my now husband I was already quite familiar with the scooter scene. First scooter: 1975 Vespa 90, original paint, survivor. Favourite style of custom scooter: I like full customs, murals, engraving, chrome etc. First rally and how did you get there: Italy EuroLambretta, took a flight over, the scooters, sun, atmosphere I was hooked. Favourite and worst rally: Favourite is Lambretta club Scotland’s Aberfoyle rally, also Kelso and I like Isle of Wight. Never really attended a bad rally although I’ve seen bad incidents. Funniest experience with a scooter: When I was going through the training for my scooter test on my Vespa PX I by sheer accident pulled a 30 yard wheelie from the traffic lights. The biker training me said it was the most impressive wheelie he had ever seen, I was pretty chuffed. Happiest scooter memories: My husband handing me the keys to this scooter; I thought it was yet another he was building for himself, although I did wonder why he suddenly valued my opinion on paint colour, style etc. What do you like/dislike about scooter rallies and events: I enjoy the music mostly, that and meeting up with people you don’t see often enough, I dislike camping. Well, what’s to like about that? And troublemakers and male ego… it’s a great scene – just enjoy it. What's your favourite Scootering feature: I like the readers travel stories but also the way Scootering’s written throughout with plenty of humour. Favourite scooter feature of all time: I have three favourites: the green and brass Lambretta GP ‘The Smiths’, then ‘Betty Blue’ owned by a Scottish lad called Pears, then the Pogues-themed Vespa PE ‘Rum Sodomy and the Lash’ What would you like to see developed for scooters: Already done... electric start. Favourite dealer and why: For the reason I’ve never had any complaints when dealing with them it’s got to be Scootopia and Scooter Surgery.
