Welcome to the September edition of Scootering
This edition is the last magazine of the season with one of our free supplements attached to it, before we move into the winter months and issue our much-loved free calendar and wall planner. Therefore it was my last opportunity of the season to get this one distributed. I only make mention of this because the subject matter of this free supplement will really come into its own during the later winter months… it being a complete guide to Lambretta restoration.
Like the previously issued Scooter Painting Guide, and Vespa Tuning & Maintenance Guide, this is a series of articles which previously ran in the magazine, which we have now pulled together into one easy to read and handy supplement. Hopefully this can be made use of throughout the coming ‘end of season strip down and rebuild’ period which usually ensues, so apologies if it’s a little premature right now.
Within the body of the main mag, we have an abundance of interesting material, including a stack of interviews: Sarge with Billy Sullivan – lead singer of The Spitfires, Rik with Rob from Tuk-Tuk UK, Penni talking to former racer and now Lambretta Café owner John Quintos, and Big Stan over with Philipp and Ulf of Scooter Centre Koln. Special mention must be made to Stu Owen, for his careful handling of the LCGB/BLOA hot-potato, as he speaks to both parties in o order to put forward a comprehensive s summary of events t to the readers. It’s a an unusual set of c circumstances, and as S Stu points out, one w with no clear winner n no matter what. C ommunication, m mediation and co ompromise can often be e bitter pills to sw wallow. But speaking as s a man twice-divorced an nd thrice-married, trust me e when I tell you… th e only winner when co mmunication breaks do down is the legal team. Stu’s vision of a vintage section of the LCGB with a sub-committee might not be THE answer, but all agreements and conclusions have to start somewhere… it’s an opening gambit at least. Food for thought. Anyway that’s enough of my ramblings, it’s another belter this month… enjoy the issue.
