Family Affair

Darren Bygrave and his 10-year-old son, Ethan, and cousins Steve Nuttall and Chris Dockherty. “Ethan and I did 1,700 miles on my series 2 last year. Ethan’s favourite scooter is the Lambretta GP, which is something I’m organising for him,” explained Darren. Steve was on his Crusaders-themed PX and Chris was on his Mod accessorised PX. “Chris and I are cousins and I’m the brains of the outfit!” said Steve. “Yes, I’m his carer, and I’ve got a full-time job. I help him tie his shoe laces and put his tent up!” Chris laughed.

Early arrivals

Tom Gralton, Nige Ford and Tony. Tom explained that he’d recently completed the D-Day landings 75th anniversary scooter ride on his series 2. Nige was on his GP, ‘In between days’. “I call it that because it’s the one I ride when I’m not riding either of my other two scooters, a TS225 called ‘Soul Speed’ and a Spanish Winter model series 2 called ‘Pretty Patina’.” Tony was on his TS1 SX150, ‘Family Guy’. “I like cartoon themes and this scooter was previously called ‘Dennis the Menace’, but you have to move with the times!” he smiled.

Southbank Collective S.C

Tim, Brydie and the Southbank Collective S.C along with some of their pals from Lost and Lonely S.C. Tim explained that the Southbank Collective was a recently formed club, which was the Southbank S.C. re-born. “The club was formed in 2019 and at the moment we have 10 members.” Brydie was on her lovely J125 Super Starstream Lambretta, and all were ready for the day ahead.

Proper old skool rally

‘Gibbo’, F.o.S. tours and the rest of the boys who were in high spirits and getting into party mode. They’d gathered round Nathan’s 1964 Italian TV175 and with a grin on his face, ‘Gibbo’ explained that it was one of the lad’s, Tam’s first rally and because he was sleeping in his tent it would probably be his last! “This is a proper old skool rally; a proper field rally and we love it!” they said enthusiastically.

Reckless S.C Bradford

Ash Haigh, Danny and Chris Jordan of Reckless S.C., Bradford. All three had ridden in on their very nicely presented Vespas. “We were thinking of going to the 60s weekend do at Howarth, but fortunately we found out about this rally through Facebook. It was an interesting ride-in though. We went wrong a couple of times and I think we even did a couple of laps of the racecourse!” Ash laughed.
