Lincoln Knights Scooter Club host their eighth successful scoot to the waterfront, raising over £600 for charity

Thhe one-dday event iis hheldld at Brayford Waterfront in the centre of Lincoln. The Brayford Waterfront is England’s oldest inland harbour, surrounded by bars and restaurants with a large walkway that appeared to have been made specifically for scooter events on sunny Saturdays.

We clocked up a nice 170 miles riding

to t and from the waterfront, taking a beautiful scenic route and heading over the great Humber Bridge. We couldn’t have asked for better riding conditions; no rain, very little wind and not too hot in all our protective(ish) clothes. Even better… no breakdowns.

Once we arrived we parked our scooters up along the waterfront, joining an extensive line of scooters that stretched as far as the eye could see. We had a wander around amongst the other 500-plus scooterists to see what was so special about the event and why it was such a popular meet. As we walked along the line of scoots checking out the impressive machines that had turned up from far and wide, we came across the parts stalls, clothes stalls and a stage with the DJ just finishing up his set ready for the band to

play p theirs. The band Three From Five played all the right covers to grab everyone’s attention. They came out with the likes of Buzzocks, The Jam, The Specials and many more great scootering sounds. The three-piece consisted of Darren on drums, Greg on bass and Dave the frontman, whom also happened to be the event’s organiser.

There was a healthy mix of scooters and styles, giving us, and the general public, plenty to look at throughout the day: Vespa, Lambretta, Dragster, Scomadi, Peugeot Django, side-cars, a classic car, AJS Modena and an MP3-style Gilera.

Name a scooter, it was probably there. My favourite of the day had to be one of the three Italjet Dragsters. Two of them were highly modified and looking prim and proper in their usual mean-looking style, and the other was a one of a kind, a dedicated Deadpool masterpiece; film and scooter alike….just for fun. I will give you some details of one of the highly modified dragsters so you can appreciate it as much as we did. This Italjet Dragster 172cc had been upgraded with some serious gear: Biturbo front and rear shocks, chrome front swingarm, chrome engine mounts, chrome starter motor, uprated gear ratios,

As soon as I had parked my scooter at home it started to piss it down and it did not stop all night. I’m taking the day’s riding as a massive win.

fully adjustable race clutch, Kevlar drive belt, Malossi crank, Polini clutch, Malossi variator, LED rear lights, carbon fibre mudguards, PM Tuning carbon fibre race exhaust and many other top-of-the-range parts. All this work was done at home by the owner and clocked a whopping speed of 100mph with phenomenal acceleration.

If you had ridden and parked up on the waterfront then your scooter was automatically entered in the Custom Show. Open to the public as well as scooterists, L.K.S.C. aptly named it ‘Park and Pose’ Custom Show with 10 trophies up for grabs. With the Custom Show results being announced and some grey clouds drawing close, it was time to make a move home. We were lucky enough to miss the rain on the way back. As soon as I had parked my scooter at home it started to piss it down and it did not stop all night. I’m taking the day’s riding as a massive win. A thoroughly enjoyable day’s ride, and a great event in between. Well done to Lincoln Knights SC and all involved for hosting another belting Scoot to the Waterfront.

I have no doubt that this event will become more popular each year.
