Scootering

OWNER DETAILS

-

Name: Angie Astley.

How and when did you first become interested in scooters: My husband was always into scooters and for his 40th birthday I surprised him with a Series 3 TV. Within six months I wanted to have my own and put my personal stamp on a Lambretta so I got my first scooter, a Series 1 Lambretta, in 2008.

What is your favourite style of custom scooter: Club style with tasteful accessories!

First rally or event: IoW first rally, afraid no stories other than not many female Lambretta riders on the IoW Sunday ride-out back in 2008. However, good to see a lot more when I went again in September 2019.

Funniest experience with a scooter: Riding around the Goodwood racecourse dressed as a Mod being chased by the Rockers with

Phil Daniels leading the Mods. We weren’t going very fast so I rode alongside him to ask if there was a problem and he said he couldn’t ride a scooter and could only ride in second gear! Lovely man though, great for the photos afterwards.

What’s the furthest you’ve ever ridden on a scooter: I take way too many clothes to go on a long journey just on a scooter but I usually cover at least 300 miles around the IoW on a bank holiday weekend.

Favourite custom scooter of all time: Disco Dez Spirit of 63.

What’s the most useless part you’ve ever bought for one of your scooters: Most of the stuff off eBay. Use your local dealer instead. Better service and sound advice.

What part would you most like to see developed for scooters: Parts that actually fit and work without modification!
