Scootering

EDDIE’S PRIDE AND JOY

-

Just wondered if you would be interested in seeing my new scoot. She's a 1963 Lambretta Li125 that arrived from Italy in December; she was restored in Italy for a collector and is so original she is registered on the FMI Lambretta Registro Storico.

My love of scooters started in the late 70s/early 80s during the Mod Revival, visiting Morecambe on a bank holiday weekend and seeing the fantastic airbrushed scooters dedicated to bands like The Jam, The Specials, etc... It was a great atmosphere with people that were happy to have a chat and show me (a spotty-faced teenager) their scooters.

I never owned a scooter of my own until now, as money was tight growing up in a small northern steel-making town. Then of course, mortgages and family became more important and I parked the idea in the back of my head.

With Brexit looming and worrying that importing a scooter might get awkward, I decided that it was now or never. I knew exactly what I wanted – an Italian Lambretta from the early 60s – after all, I'd had a picture in my head for 40 years. So with the help of Lee at Parspeed Scooters we bought her, and got her into the UK and registered with days to spare. I've made a couple of changes to suit my taste, including replacing the twin seat with single ones (but obviously keeping the twins) and adding a spare wheel carrier.

We've just received the UK registration V5 giving her an ‘A' reg 1963 restoration number. She is everything and more that I wanted, and I am looking forward to enjoying her and visiting meets and shows once this pandemic is over. I've attached a few pictures for you. Eddie Blackmore West Cumbria
