Scootering

OWNER DETAILS

-

Name: Cheryl Ward.

Job: Facilities support/receptionist.

Scooter club & town: Chorley Scorpions Scooter Club.

First interest in scooters: Age 14.

First scooter: Black PK50 age 16.

First ever rally: Morecambe 1985.

Any funny stories: Midge drove me home in the sidecar coming back from Preston Wild Cats SC meeting at The Sun Hotel, where we first met, aw! We stopped at the chippy on the way home for fish ‘n’ chips, oh dear, I was sick in my helmet, a beer too many, luckily, I just missed the chips.

Favourite rally: Isle of Wight, just full of scooters and the atmosphere is immense. The best bit is when Midge takes me on the ride of my life travelling round the roundabout posing then at full speed cranking the scooter over up the hill and returning to do it all again, what a blast.

Funniest experience involving scooters: Watching a Chorley Scorpion being pushed down the hill trying to get his scooter started, probably because it was a Vespa T5, ha ha!

Furthest you’ve ever ridden on a scooter: Holiday in Holland, Borculo, Speed Demons SC. This tops it off – pillion: 40th birthday treat – PortsmouthSantander – Gijon Euro Rally 2010, on to Benidorm, Salou, Bilbao and return to Santander, three weeks on the road, covered about 2800 miles.

What do you like about rallies: Having fun with my mates, meeting new and old friends. Drinking and being in company with people who share the same taste in music and surrounded by loads of scooters.

Favourite custom scooter of all time:

Sign of the Snake – I fell in love with this scooter in the 80s.

Your most recommended scooter security item: Big chain or my DM boot or my whip – crack – away.

Which insurer do you recommend: Carole Nash.

What would make the scene better: Campsites with good facilities especially a good bar and dancefloor. Camping and scooters-only rallies are the best.

Favourite scooter dealer: Scooter Restorations.
