Scootering

OWNER DETAILS

-

Name: Steve Clarke.

Job: Retail sales (local electrical appliance store).

Scooter club & town: Guernsey Scooter Club.

First interest in scooters: I was a (young) Mod in the mid-80s, spent a lot of time with my brother and his mates.

First scooter: Vespa P200.

Favourite scooter model: Vespa Faro Basso.

Favourite style of custom scooter: Street Sleeper.

First ever rally: IoW mid-90s.

How did you get there: My old Jet 200.

Any funny stories: Broke down on way to the harbour, pushed it about a mile loaded up with mine and a mate’s gear on one of the hottest days in August. Luckily, we knew a guy on the ferry was into scooters, so he helped me fix it, while all the others were in the bar.

Funniest experience involving scooters: Nearly ‘parking’ my Vespa small frame into the back of a car, while looking at a nice young lady.

Furthest you’ve ever ridden on a scooter: Isle of Wight.

What do you like about rallies: Meeting up with people, chatting about scooters and having a good time.

What do you dislike about rallies: Going home.

Favourite Scootering magazine feature: The one with me in it, and our club (Guernsey Scooter Collective).

Favourite custom scooter of all time: Exodus, Lammy built by local legend Jez Mann.

Your most recommended scooter part or related item: A good set of quality cables.

Your most recommended scooter security item: Decent lock and alarm, thankfully not much of a problem on Guernsey.

Most useless part you’ve ever bought for a scooter: Too many to list, probably a smiley face spare wheel cover.

Favourite scooter dealer: SIP.
