Scootering

MAN & MACHINE

-

Name: Alan Blurton.

Job: Quality manager at Bombardier Transportation.

Scooter club & town: Junction 25 Casuals based in Derby.

First interest in scooters: I first became interested in motorbikes as a 14-yearold lad riding bikes on the fields. Honda 90s, Honda 50s, Triumph Tiger Cub and then two Lambrettas… type unknown because we cut everything down! The scooters then became my favourite simply because they were different and looked cool, even with the side panels and front mudguards off!

What do you like about rallies/ events: Looking at the different scooters, the clothes, banter and riding in big groups.

What do you dislike about rallies/events: The snobbery of people’s perceptions of how a scoot should look.

Your favourite custom/ featured scooter of all time: The Silver Surfer by Gatch.

Name of scooter and reason: Game of Thrones. I wanted something that was topical and will always be remembered.

Scooter model: Royal Alloy.

Describe engine performance, power delivery and scooter handling: It’s rapid off the line, cruises at 60mph and will get up to 70mph top speed.

Is there anyone you wish to thank: Junction 25 Casuals scooter club for allowing me to question, harass and pester people and ideas about ‘modding’ my scoot. They are as follows: Johno, Gaynor, Azbo, Mandy, Rodders, Gordy, The Bear, Councillor Pearce, Jack and Elley. Special thanks to Lem for all his support. Dino, for driving the scoot back with sciatica. Gatch, who is amazing; many thanks. My wife Hayley, for putting up with my moans and groans during the build.
