Run by Scott Gray, the company was set up after Scott was made redundant last year during the first Covid lockdown, which gave him time to rethink his future; he hoped to bring his hobby and associated knowledge into use and after many long chats with his partner Jax, he decided to set up his own blasting business.

He found a suitable industrial unit in October 2020 and sourced the required machinery. He painted and tidied up the unit, fitting in the compressor, pipework and blasting cabinets, as well as shelving and other not-sonoticeable but necessary items. He was very kindly helped by two fellow scooterists who designed and manufactured a sign for him (well done guys; you know who you are).

Everything was now set up and ready for the grand opening in early December 2020; then 'Lockdown Part Two: The Consequence of Foolishness' was opened on general release to the public, making it a bit of a struggle at first; but Scott says since that time things have been picking up nicely and future plans include acid dip facilities, as well as the office being adapted into a blasting room for larger items.

Scott has been asked a few times: “Why WRT, what does it stand for?” Scott didn't even tell me, so if you want to find out, or need to use his services or advice, contact him direct or visit

(by appointment only at the moment) to find out.

WRT Blasting is based in Stoke Row, near Henley (halfway between Reading and Oxford).
