Take a seat…
Not being a fan of the seat which my Li was previously sporting, I decided a change was needed, but didn’t want another generic ‘eBay Special’ if you catch my drift. Enter Streamline Seats…
Ifirst saw this style of seat a while back on one of our feature scooters, Barracuda Lambretta. I wasn't exactly sure of the brand of seat at that time, but later confirmed it to be Streamline Seats of Germany when I saw a similar item on a Vespa which we also featured in the magazine. This led me to visiting their very helpful website at: www.streamlineseats.de, where I was able to use their interactive seat designer software to select the colour, length and style of seat, as well as added extras like a seat lock and uprated hinge. I personally went for a ‘toffee' brown seat, the short version called ‘Vento', with diamond pattern stitching in ‘Cherry' red. I could have selected different colours for the seat side, top and piping sections, but was happy with a uniform colour throughout. Other options on the stitching pattern are Honeycomb and Waffle… there seems to be a food pattern emerging to all the names here? Anyway, I didn't get a lockable seat, but did get the uprated hinge. Each seat is made to order, so after a week or two of eager anticipation, the securely packaged item dropped through my door, and I have to say, I was not disappointed. The seat is a high-quality item, which fitted with no issues. The only minor adjustment I made was to use the shorter front hinge bolts from my old seat rather than the longer ones supplied. The seat is quite firm to start, but soon beds in nicely, and so not only looks good, but will keep me comfortable too.
