Mousetrap allnighter 30th anniversary
Mousetrap allnighters will celebrate three decades at the same North London venue in late February and early March 2022.
Reaching the landmark of a 30-year pearl anniversary is one hell of an achievement for any club night. Even more so given the seemingly unstoppable, gentrification that vast swathes of London have been subjected to in the past decade and a half. Yet Mousetrap has continued unabated in the very location where it first began back in 1991, echoing, although not equalling, its namesake, the West End theatre production of Agatha Christie’s The Mousetrap.
Since 1998, Mousetrap is part of the New Untouchables portfolio of events and during its first few years offered a completely across-the-board mix of Sixties sounds all in the one basement room. In 1997 the first anniversary single, featuring two Mousetrap anthems, was given away as a freebie to all those at the sixth anniversary event, the Mousetrap record label was born, with a doublesided single ‘released’ annually at each anniversary event. Given its longevity, Mousetrap resident DJs, headed by Dr Robert, have discovered, broken and pioneered exclusive, previously unknown, hard to find gems and turned them into Mousetrap classics.
Mousetrap’s 30th anniversary Rhythm and Soul allnighter takes place on Saturday February 26, with the Mousetrap Fuzz for Freaks, Psychedelic anniversary allnighter one week later on Saturday, March 5.
Both will run from 10pm-6am at Orleans, Seven Sisters Road, London N1; admission £9 in advance, £12 on the door.
