PREPARING FOR THE SHOW

Mark Bingley and Tim Hosell (guiding light and road crew). Mark was showing his stunning San Miguel street racer and had taken along some themed items to support the scooter’s display. “I’m really looking forward to showing my bike at this event, it’ll be its first time I’ve shown it here and I know that I’ll be up against some stiff competition!” The day turned out to be a great success for Mark as he walked away with some well-deserved trophies.

TURNING LOCKDOWN INTO AN OPPORTUNITY

Eamonn McGarrity and Mandy Shirley. The couple had ridden in on Eamonn’s P200e, which had recently received the Alan Terry (Diablo) engine treatment; Malossi Sport 220 kit, long-stroke crank, up-jetted carb and Pipe-Design exhaust. “I bought it in a pretty tired condition a few months after lockdown first kicked in. During lockdown I developed it as a project and the colour scheme is based on my Irish heritage in the classic Armando’s style.”

SOUND AND VISION Malcolm Woodward had ridden in from Kings Norton, Longbridge with several other members of his club, The Famous Five Collective. Malcolm was on his ModBowie themed Vespa PX125. “I’m a massive Bowie fan and this event always has a great atmosphere, there’s always some interesting scooters to check out and it’s always a good place to collect ideas.”

NEW VMSC MEMBERS RIDE-IN Members of the Lost Kings SC along with Anthony Bailey and Roy Wheatcroft. Anthony had ridden in on his recently purchased Series 1 TV175 and Roy was on his 1957 LD MkIII 150. “We’re regulars to the event and Roy and I joined the VMSC at the Burton Brewers do in February. My scooter is close to its original spec and I’m looking forward to getting it as close as possible to being completely original with some guidance from the VMSC members,” Anthony explained.

OUT IN NUMBERS

Glen Turner and members of the Leicester Alliance and Leicester Phoenix SC. “We met up at around 10am and rode in together. We rode along the Old Fosse road in the crisp clear sunshine, which was fantastic and inspiring. We’re all looking forward to having a catch-up and a great time today.”
